Mazomanie Area Flood Assistance Fund

The flooding that took place on August 21st in the Mazomanie area exceeded the defined floodplain and left many homeowners without insurance coverage for damages sustained. The Mazomanie Area Flood Assistance Fund has been established at The Peoples Community Bank and donations are being accepted at any of the bank’s locations in Mazomanie, Arena, Barneveld, Plain, Spring Green & Richland Center. Proceeds from the fund will be allocated based on need to affected homeowners by a committee of area residents and business people.

How Can You Contribute:

We are accepting cash and checks at all of our six locations. Checks made payable to Mazomanie Area Flood Assistance Fund can also be mailed to The Peoples Community Bank, P.O. Box 8, Mazomanie, WI 53560.

Loan Options:

The Peoples Community Bank is also offering six-month, no-interest loans of up to $5,000.00 to property owners in flood-affected areas subject to normal credit underwriting. At loan maturity, borrowers will have the option of placing the loan on payments for up to five years at a fixed rate of interest comparable to home mortgages of similar term.

Applicants may contact any residential mortgage lender of the bank for assistance by calling 800-795-2151 or via email to: sdyreson@thepeoplescommunitybank.com or tgorman@thepeoplescommunitybank.com.

Where We're at as of September 18th, 2018

The balance of the Flood Assistance Fund now exceeds $90,000 and donations continue to arrive daily. The organizational meeting of the local committee tasked with approving recommendations for grants will be held next week (week of September 24). Expect an announcement shortly thereafter as to how and where to apply for funds, both online and paper-based.

The fund will no doubt exceed $100,000 by the time that funds are disbursed to flood victims.

Stay tuned and thank you to all who have been part of this effort.
